About SSA (services, programs, directors, members and more)The goal of Seafood Services Australia (SSA) is to enhance the profitability, international competitiveness, sustainability and resilience of the Australian seafood industry. SSA was established in 2001 by the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and the Australian seafood industry. ServicesAs the domestic and global markets become ever more complex and sophisticated, the competitiveness of Australian seafood businesses is being challenged. These challenges are beyond the capacity of individual businesses to address. We work with seafood industry people, and our extensive networks and alliances across industry and government, to help you continually improve industry practices and to capitalise on opportunities that would not otherwise be realised. We are helping to create the incentives and tools for the industry to act, as a united seafood industry, to build an environment in which individual businesses can be more profitable and sustainable. SSA Board of DirectorsGeoff Gorrie (Chairman): Geoff is a former Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and the Chair or Director of a number of agri-industry boards. Steve Buckless (Deputy Chairman): Steve is the Managing Director of Southland Fish Supplies, and a Director or Member of many fishery representative bodies. Debra Ferguson: Debra is the International Marketing Manager for Ferguson Australia / Ferguson Fisheries. Tony Battaglene: Tony has an initial background in fisheries economics. He is currently Director of International and regulatory Affairs of the Winemakers Federation of Australia, and Chair or Director of many wine industry committees. Justin Fromm: Justin is the CEO of the National Aquaculture Council. Peter Walker: Peter is a citrus farmer. He is an experienced Chair and Director of numerous horticulture industry boards since 1995. Ted Loveday (Managing Director): Ted has over 30 years experience in the seafood industry, including 20 years as operator of commercial fishing businesses. He has extensive experience as a Director and member on many seafood industry boards and committees. MembersBecome a SSA MemberSSA's constitution provides for seafood industry business with objectives that are compatible with the objectives of SSA, to apply to become a member.
